We are currently Netflix subscribers, but my husband has been rather upset over their "throttling" tactics. Since he is a large volume renter, his movies are constantly delayed. We are considering swithcing over to the Blockbuster service, but I am wondering if we will have the same problem with that service. Does Blockbuster delay movie shipments similar to what Netflix does?

What would make you choose to go to a Video Rental Store over renting online?
I want to open a video rental (well dvd, blu ray and cd) store with a difference. I am not a fan of the LOVEFILM type service as I tihnk it’s restrictive, awkward and expensive. I would like something along the lines of a store where you can buy and/or rent DVDs/Blu Ray Discs and CDs (albums) at low prices with low late fees.
I have been told that the video store is dead but i dont believe it. I would also encorporate a website into the idea of the store where you could reserve movies online and have them delivered to your front door or posted.(or you can pick them up)
A website where u stream movies for a price would be fantastic but most peoples computers are not good enough to stream movies in dvd quality and now we have blu ray i think people will start renting more for the quality of the sound and picture which you cant get from torrents or streaming.
Basically I want to know if these things like:
*drop offs to your house and or postage
*large selction of snacks in store at low prices
*dvd/bluray/cd and game rental
*online reservations and purchases
*notifications to your phone/facebook etc when a rental is due back
*special offers for good customers
*comfy seating in store so you can sit and read movie blurbs
*a computer database for CUSTOMERS to see what we have in store rather than having to ask the employees all the time
*ability to buy tickets to local gigs and albums of local bands
If these aspects would make a difference to you going to video stores rather than using a LOVEFILM type thing online…?
And anything else you wana add, feel free to rant about the things you hate about video stores too!
Thanks a lot! :D

Advice about my [unexpectedly horrible] Netflix subscription?
For years I have loathed and mocked the idea of Netflix, then recently decided it might be a great deal – BECAUSE of the watch-now streaming to our WII – but now I’m thinking I may have been right after all.
I would not mind some input from YA folks please! – on what to do, since it’s pretty hard to get a good sense of what’s available on Netflix versus what you want. (without spending 6 months worth of /mo. to get the ‘experience’ and then quit, as it seems so many have).
Ok the reason I thought Netflix was so dumb is that movie-watching is, for most of us, a pretty impulse driven thing. I feel like watching a movie today, so I go and rent one. Blockbuster, Hollywood V, and Redbox all adequately meet that need. If I want to pay less for a little smaller selection, I use Redbox. If I want to go bankrupt, I use Blockbuster. If I want a good, balanced deal, I use Hollywoo….Oh wait, they’re closing all their stores. CR@P !!
To me the idea of Netflix was as stupid as saying, I feel like eating a cheeseburger, so I’ll order one now and it will be mailed to me – albeit, surprisingly fast – and 1 or 2 days later, I’ll eat a cheeseburger. Yay!!! Then I’ll have to mail back my wrapper real quick before I can fulfill my next urge in a very, very delayed way….
Then we got a WII, and I already had a wireless connection in my home, so I thought WHOA – if I can watch Netflix stuff instantly anytime (even if they were smart and had a way so you could only watch them one time, which would solve their licensing problem, DUH) – that would be a NO brainer! Pick up the remote and watch a movie.
Forget .99/mo, I and most people I know would pay 3 times that much, if the deal was really what it seemed.
Now I’m in my first Netflix month, and I’m realizing the selection of new releases is like 5 movies. You go to their website to browse New to Watch Instantly, and after paging through pretty much the first page, you’re down to movies that came out 3 years ago.
Does this mean they add about 10 movies a year??? Has it occurred to them how dumb this is? Does anyone watch Netflix watch-instantly for anything other than old / foreign movies? I’m like most people I’ve watched most of the "OLD" movies I want, pretty much I rent things as they are released on DVD – or I’d like to.
the HV in my area closed down, and since blockbuster went nuts with their minimum rental, I’m running out of good options.
Is there an option like Netflix watch-now that I’m missing? I already have a WII, wireless connection, and a willingness to spend as much as -/mo.
Is there any option for me?????????? Has anyone else been equally frustrated by the seemingly-great solution of Netflix, only to find out it is complete crap?
Has anyone used another service to find out it is worth the money? If so what? how much & what software is required?
Hmm, I think the first Oro answer might not have actually read my question.
Netflix has almost NO newer movies to watch instantly – the watch instantly was the only thing valuable about the entire company.
And more details, added after the 2nd answer was posted.
OMG, is NOBODY reading my question correctly. I clearly stated that my issue with Netflix is precisely because the "Watch Now", or "Watch Instantly" feature is so horrible.
Yes I’m familiar with it – but it has virtually nothing in it that came out in the past year.

What is the best electronic fax service to use?
I’m looking to into either purchasing a fax machine (and the required home phone line), or into subscribing to an online/electronic fax service. Does anybody have personal experience with using online/electronic faxes, and if so, what are your recommendations?

Does anyone use Redbox for DVD rentals?
I don’t know if its nationwide but they have kiosks in various stores around where I live like in WalMarts and McDonalds and Grocery Stores

Is it pretty good service compared to Netflix which rarely has the latest titles available as they are always on my forever wait list
