They just got one in my grocery store. And the video store is right next to it. So I dont know which to use. Has anyone ever used one, and is it easy? Does it require a credit card? Does it have crazy late fees if I dont return the movie on time?

What would make you choose to go to a Video Rental Store over renting online?
I want to open a video rental (well dvd, blu ray and cd) store with a difference. I am not a fan of the LOVEFILM type service as I tihnk it’s restrictive, awkward and expensive. I would like something along the lines of a store where you can buy and/or rent DVDs/Blu Ray Discs and CDs (albums) at low prices with low late fees.
I have been told that the video store is dead but i dont believe it. I would also encorporate a website into the idea of the store where you could reserve movies online and have them delivered to your front door or posted.(or you can pick them up)
A website where u stream movies for a price would be fantastic but most peoples computers are not good enough to stream movies in dvd quality and now we have blu ray i think people will start renting more for the quality of the sound and picture which you cant get from torrents or streaming.
Basically I want to know if these things like:
*drop offs to your house and or postage
*large selction of snacks in store at low prices
*dvd/bluray/cd and game rental
*online reservations and purchases
*notifications to your phone/facebook etc when a rental is due back
*special offers for good customers
*comfy seating in store so you can sit and read movie blurbs
*a computer database for CUSTOMERS to see what we have in store rather than having to ask the employees all the time
*ability to buy tickets to local gigs and albums of local bands
If these aspects would make a difference to you going to video stores rather than using a LOVEFILM type thing online…?
And anything else you wana add, feel free to rant about the things you hate about video stores too!
Thanks a lot! :D

Has Redbox completely destoryed video rental store business?
I was riding around the our day and it noticed all of these video rentals places going out of business or out of business. I was thanks alot Redbox now I have no where to rent my video games anymore. Dont tell me gamefly I have heard too many bad things about them.
I dont understand why Redbox became so popular. At the movie galleries and blockbusters around here they offered the same deal redbox did. If you rented a movie for 5 days and bought it back the next day then you got the rest of your money back. I know people who would drive 15 miles to go rent from redbox when we had a video rental place here.
Since the video rental places are all about out of business, I can see Redbox and netflix jacking up their prices. I can see redbox going up to 3 or 4 dollars and netflix could raise their monthly price to 15 if they want.
You can say it wont happen but mark my words it will happen because it makes to much sense for it not to happen
all i know is before redbox video stores where still around.
Convenience always comes at a price. you dont settle for something because it is convenient
I miss going to the video stores and walking around too. I miss being able to rent games too see whether or not it was worth buying. I remember being a kid and one of the greatest things was going to video store to look for a movie or game i wanted. good time good times
yea people did settle for it because it was convenient. It just like people who choose to order food from a fast food place instead of cooking. We live in a world thats all about things being convenient. So dont tell me people didnt settle for netflix because it was convenient.
(useful, and versatile) explain how netflix is more useful and versatile than a video store?

Attention fellow yahoo-ians!!…?
Yahoo-ites, not sure of the nomenclature here…
But today on this day 17 years ago it was declarerd Hedgehog Day in commemoration of the release of Sonic 3. For waiting impatiently all that day and racing to the video store after school I recieved a free pack of Sonic edition Lifesavers with my rental; and it it was good!
I know it’s Groundhog Day and we all praise or jeer the little rat for predicting the early or late arrival of spring, but it was also the release date of one the greatest games of all time!
So show your appreciation for hedgehogs and two-tailed foxes everywhere on this day, whip out your Sega Genesises or virtual console downloads, and play some classic Sonic from the 16-bit days of yore
(and not the bad 3D games that ensure an unpleasant experience for all, except the Groundhog)

Does anyone know the URL of the guy who had commandments about his video game rental store?
I think his name started with a Z he ran a video store up in canada and had funny stories about throwing kids bikes out side and placing horrible video games out on shelves and making fun of people for stealing them. He imported some drink from america and had to do something at the border because it wasnt labeled in french. Anyways I think he ended up in japan teaching english but his website was hillarious.

My local video rental store is going out of business and they are selling all their Wii and Game Cube games…
dollars for used Wii games and .50 for Game Cube. Do you think this is a good deal?
They dont have PS3 games and I dont have an X-Box 360. lol It’s a mom and pop video store outside St Louis, Mo.
