Classic Hollywood Movies.
No matter what you’re favorite genre, there is a Hollywood classic movie for you. They are kept alive by repeat showings on TV, retrospective screenings in cinemas and at film festivals and by DVDs. Many of these features have been collected together on themed box sets. So whether you favour comedy, musicals or drama, there are hundreds of titles to choose from.
It’s nice to have some DVDs that the whole family can sit down together and watch. The Mary Poppins 2 Disc 40th Anniversary Edition reminds us of the charm of the film and has extra features too. Julie Andrews stars as the eccentric children’s nanny with tricks up her sleeve. This edition has a musical singalong, interviews with cast members, deleted scenes, a behind the scenes feature and a musical reunion of the cast.
Another 40th Anniversary Edition is available for another musical classic Hollywood film. My Fair Lady contains bonus features including the vocal recordings that Audrey Hepburn made but were never used in the film because her parts were dubbed by a singer. They are for the songs, wouldn’t it be Loverly and Show Me. There is also footage from the Los Angeles premiers, comments from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Martin Scorsese and a gallery of photographs of the fabulous costumes, designed by Cecil Beaton.
For western fans, the Clint Eastwood Collection is a real treat. 4 Discs show his spaghetti western collection, A Fistful of Dollars, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, For a Few Dollars More and Hang Em High. Re-live the action, the cinematography and the music in these classic Hollywood movies.
Orson Welles is considered to be a genius of the cinema and The Third Man from 1949 shows one of his best performances. A 2 Disc edition has bonus features too. Welles plays Harry Lime, caught up in intrigue in Vienna just after World War II. Joseph Cotton co-stars.
Gangster films are forever associated with James Cagney and the James Cagney Signature Collection has four of the best in Angels with Dirty Faces, Public Enemy, Roaring Twenties, and White Heat. This same series of classic Hollywood movies also includes four films from Humphrey Bogart, namely Casablanca, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The Maltese Falcon, and High Sierra. The partnership between Bogart and Lauren Bacall is celebrated in a box set containing The Big Sleep, To Have and Have Not, Key Largo, and Dark Passage. The chemistry between the two stars can be seen in these movies.
One of the great box office successes to come out of Hollywood is Gone with the Wind. Made in 1939, it is still considered a classic film of Hollywood and there is a 4 Disc Collector’s Edition available. The film has been digitally re-mastered and extras include a trailer gallery, a documentary on the making of the film and a documentary each on the movie’s stars, Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh.

Do you enjoy going to the movies? I’m talking about the big screen. You head out with the wife and kids for a nice entertaining show with no stress on the mind. This way you can lounge back in your seat with a massive tub of butter-soaked popcorn and a large soft drink. Now does that sound ideal or what? Of course it does! We all love the movies, and we especially love viewing them in a large theater. There’s just something to be said about a gargantuan screen and wall-shaking surround sound. Now, since we’ve established that we all enjoy films, it’s rather simple to assess the situation. You need a gift for your buddy’s birthday, but you’re not certain what to get. No problem! It’s high time to purchase some movie gift certificates. Who wouldn’t love these? I’ll tell you who; some reclusive, back-woods, quiet-type serial killer. That’s who. Okay, so maybe that’s a tad extreme, but you get the message. The point is we all love the movies.
Have any ideas where to find movie gift certificates? Well that’s a no-brainer. Hop onto your home computer. These days you can accomplish it all with your laptop and high-speed Internet connection. You’ve surely heard of Fandango. It always has those horribly corny ads. The ones that typically play before your movie begins. Well actually Fandango has more to do with getting your tickets prior to heading off to the theater. Anyway, you can buy movie gift certificates online anytime. Simply pop open your favorite search engine and punch in the keywords. Oh and, just a word of advice before you haul off and invest in loads of movie gift certificates; you’ll want to consider who you’re buying for first. Where does that person live? What theaters are in his/her areas? This is crucial when it comes to purchasing movie gift certificates. Not everyone lives near particular entertainment distributors. I am referring to the folks that are affiliated with each movie theater. Sometimes it’s Carmike, sometimes it’s Regal, and it could be others. Therefore it’s not prudent to purchase movie gift certificates for Regal cinemas, if your buddy only lives near Carmike cinemas. Get the picture? No pun intended there. So hop online and narrow your search for movie gift certificates to their area.
