SERENA WILLIAMS TAKE CARRIAGE RIDE THROUGH N.Y.C.’S CENTRAL PARK WITH HUSBAND ALEXIS OHANIAN

While the U.S. Open winds down in Queens, Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian decided to take a horse drawn carriage in Manhattan. Williams, was spotted in a carriage going through Central Park on Sunday afternoon with her husband of nearly five years.

The superstar shocked the tennis world in August when she and her sister Venus Williams withdrew from the major tournament. Serena was wearing a red short-sleeved Gucci shirt, while staying safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic with a blue face mask.

She also wore a pair of black sunglasses and wore a blue Brooklyn Dodgers New Era baseball cap for her outing. She completed her look with black leggings, white sandals and a brown Gucci purse during the outing. Ohanian was spotted wearing a black t-shirt and grey shorts as he rode in the carriage with his wife.

Unlike his wife, Ohanian didn't wear a face mask, though he was also seen wearing a light black puffer coat. The Reddit co-founder was all smiles while hanging out with his wife, on the same day that the U.S. Open came to a close. Serena took to Instagram on August 25 to announce she was withdrawing from the U.S. Open, while sister Venus made her announcement through social media too.

'After careful consideration and following the advice of my doctors and medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the US Open to allow my body to heal completely from a torn hamstring,' she said.

'New York is one of the most exciting cities in the world and one of my favorite places to play—I’ll miss seeing the fans but will be cheering everyone on from afar,' she added.'Thank you for your continued support and love. I’ll see you soon,' Williams concluded.

Williams is considered by many to be the greatest female tennis player of all time with 23 Grand Slam singles titles. That tally is the most in the Open Era and the second most all time, just one behind Margaret Court's 24 titles. Serena Williams has revealed what she eats to stay in top condition and says that she treats food as a complement not as her life.

Speaking to Women's Health, the tennis GOAT said she "eats to live" and she will often skip breakfast "I often don't make breakfast because I just forget or I'm running around getting Olympia [her daughter] ready and then I go work out." "When I roll out of bed [in the morning], I'm just not hungry," she said.

Serena Williams, who sat out the U.S. Open due to a torn hamstring, was not on the entry list released on Wednesday for next month's BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells while Naomi Osaka was one of five former champions entered in the women's draw.

While four-times Grand Slam champion Osaka was on the entry list for the October 4-17 hardcourt event, her participation remains in doubt given she said last week that she would be taking a break from tennis to concentrate on her mental health.

Osaka has struggled on the court since she withdrew from the French Open in May amid a row with tournament officials over required media appearances, which she said had a negative impact on her mental health.

The 23-year-old Japanese, who won her first WTA title at Indian Wells in 2018, announced her break after her bid to retain the U.S. Open title ended in a third-round upset.

Williams, who won the most recent of her two Indian Wells titles in 2001, has had an injury-marred season and has not competed since she limped out of her first-round match at Wimbledon in tears due to the leg injury.

The 39-year-old Williams said two weeks ago she decided to sit out the year's final Grand Slam on the advice of her medical team and did not give a timeline for her return.

The dual ATP-WTA hardcourt event at Indian Wells, which is one rung below the four Grand Slam tournaments, is normally held in March but was cancelled last year due to COVID-19. This year's edition was postponed.
