Dvd Rental Recommendations

It’s weird, but sometimes too much of a good thing can be, well… too much. With so many choices of movie titles to choose from you may get overwhelmed. But, if you aren’t sure where to start, you can always ask your local rental store what dvd rental recommendations they may have.

Of course, if you choose to ask for some dvd rental recommendations you obviously don’t have to rent those dvd’s, but it may present you with a place to start.

Some of the bigger stores, or online video rental sites, have thousands of video titles to choose from. Many of them also have hundreds of game titles you can rent as well. So, it can get a little overwhelming.

Personally, if it were me, I would go to the website of some video store. It doesn’t really matter if it is the rental store you will be using or not, unless the titles you want to rent are really obscure, otherwise they should all have the same titles.

Dvd Rental Recommendations and Options To Start With

From the website you can read reviews and find out more about what the movie is about. This information may help you decide which movies you want to see and which ones you would rather skip.

Another handy feature of these sites is that they will have the movies arranged by genre. In this way you may be able to pick and choose more easily. Also, because of the way the movies are arranged, you may actually be exposed to more titles than you would normally.

Most brick and mortar stores are arranged with the “New Releases” arranged together. They usually aren’t arranged by genre but by their release dates.

That makes it more difficult to find the exact type of movie that you want to see, and it makes it more likely that you will miss out on seeing something you may enjoy just because it isn’t in the new release section of the store.

You also have many choices in where you can actually rent your movies when you do decide which ones you want to rent. There are several online sources where you can decide which videos you want to rent, add them to your list or queue and have them sent to you in the mail.

You can also have the movies streamed directly to your computer or even some brands of t.v.’s if you want to. Most of these online streaming services have a limited number of titles available for streaming though.

Make sure you check with any service to see what they offer and what they don’t. Also, these services will require you to sign up for a subscription before you can rent (though several of them also offer a free trial).

There are usually a few different subscriptions you can get and you will be able to rent more movies during the month with some of the more expensive options of subscriptions.

Anyway, I digress, if you aren’t sure what there is to see or what you want to see, you can always rely on dvd rental recommendations from your local video store or online, it’s up to you.

Blue Ray Dvd Rental

I may be aging myself, but it seems like not that long ago we were using VHS tapes instead of DVD’s. Today we have yet another option for our entertainment… Blu-ray. The only problem is that when they come out with a new technology, it seems like it takes them a long time to get older movies converted to that new format. So, you may find that not all the movies you want can be a blue ray dvd rental.

Today, some people use the term Blu- ray and DVD interchangeably. And while not totally accurate, it isn’t that big of a deal. All the top rental places will also have blue ray dvd rental available, though they usually won’t have as big of a selection in Blu-rays as they do in DVD’s simply because DVD’s have been around longer.

Blu-ray is called that because that is precisely what it is. Standard DVD’s work when a red laser reads the information on the disk. With Blu-ray the information is read with a blue-violet laser, hence the name.

Blue Ray Dvd Rental and New Technology Not Always Better

Since the wavelength is shorter, the disk can be read with more precision and that means that more data can be picked up which can produce a sharper picture and more realistic sound.

Since more information can be stored on the same size disk, you can really get great definition and more of that “theater style” sound.

Blu-ray was developed by members of the BDA or Blu-ray Disc Association which is made up of some companies I’m sure you have heard of.

Companies like Sony, Apple, Dell, and Disney to be exact. One of the reasons Blu-ray isn’t even more popular, since it does deliver such exceptional sound and video, is the fact that you do need a different player to watch Blu-ray over a standard DVD player.

Many people are starting to get technology burnout where they have just spent hundreds of dollars for some new technology only to have it either be outdated or at least outdone by something better in a very short time.

Since people may be a little reluctant to invest in yet another player for their entertainment, Blu-ray isn’t quite as popular yet as you may have thought it would be.

If you do decide to get your own Blu-ray player, you can still play DVD’s on it. You can’t play Blu-ray on your DVD player but you can play DVD’s on a Blu-ray player. Confused yet??

Blu-ray players can sell for a wide range of prices, and as with all technologies, the price is coming down. As of this writing a basic Blu-ray player can be bought for as little as $50 online.

All in all, Blu-ray can offer a superior entertainment experience. But, you may find some limitations as to the number of blue ray dvd rental movies you can choose from. More than likely, Blu-ray will continue to expands it’s reach in entertainment and when it does, you will probably have no trouble finding all the movies and shows you want on Blu-ray.

Dvd Rental Vs Movie Theater

I hear commercials all the time trying to tout the advantages of dvd rental vs movie theater. But, to me, there really is no comparison.

As far as I’m concerned there are pros and cons to each form of entertainment, but it is important to take into consideration just what you are trying to accomplish.

I mean when it comes to dvd rental vs movie theater we know it isn’t just about seeing a movie. It’s about an evenings worth of entertainment.

Renting a movie gives you so many more options in the movie(s) you can see. And, you can pick and choose when you watch it and aren’t tied into only watching it when it comes on (though with features like OnDemand and a DVR where you can record a movie and watch it later, this isn’t as big of an issue anymore)

Dvd Rental Vs Movie Theater and Pro And Cons For Both

Another great advantage of renting some DVD’s whether you do it online, through the mail or at your local video store, is that you don’t have to leave your home. Some times when it is cold and rainy or you are just tired and want to “veg out” this is the perfect option.

It is also much less expensive to go the rental route for your entertainment. You can reasonably expect to spend only a few dollars to rent a video to watch at home whereas a movie theater will cost $14 at the minimum depending on what part of the country you live in and how much you get from the snack bar.

But, that is only part of the picture. There are some very strong advantages to going out to a theater for your entertainment too. For one thing… you are going out.

It feels more like entertainment and a night out than it would just watching videos at home. Sometimes it is nice to get out of the house and spend time with friends and family in a different environment than just staying home all the time.

It’s much more of a social event that is often combined with other activities like eating out.

Another pro for going to the movie theater is that the theater will almost always have better seating and better sound (unless, of course, you have your own home theater).

Some types of movies just lose something in the translation and aren’t as impressive if they aren’t seen on the big screen with state of the art sound.

Also, in the “pro” column for going to the theater is the fact that if there is that huge summer or holiday movie coming out, who wants to wait 2 or 3 months for it to be released on DVD? Many times you want to see it as close to the day it is released as possible.

Personally, I think that the debate between dvd rental vs movie theater comes down to one main thing: the movie you want to see. If it is a movie that you just can’t wait to see or it would just not be as spectacular on a small screen, head to the theaters. But if it’s a movie you’re not even that sure you want to see, wait for it to come out on DVD.

Dvd Rental Machines

It seems like nothing stands still when it come to technology and the way our technology is delivered. One of many notable changes of late are the dvd rental machines. You may know these are Redbox, though there are other brands too.

DVD rental machines are pretty much found all over the country. According to their website, Redbox has over 25,000 locations. That means that you should have no trouble finding a machine for your video rentals no matter where you live.

I live in a very small town, surrounded by another very small town, and their are at least 2 of these machines within an easy drive.

But, you may be asking, is renting a movie from these machines better than going to the local video rental store or getting them in the mail or online?

Well, honestly that depends a lot on you and your needs.

There are other kiosk style DVD rental services but they are all similar though actual pricing may vary. This information is for Redbox and is accurate for now, check the details yourself before you rent.

Dvd Rental Machines and Nothing Stands Still When It Comes To Technology

Here is a short overview on how these machines work as well as some pros and cons to consider:

1. Since there are so many of these machines, and since they are always located where you already shop such as in grocery stores, pharmacies, convenience stores, etc. they are convenient.

2. These machines can carry as many as 600 + DVDs and usually have over 200 unique titles available.
They also have some games available for rent.

3. The pricing is very reasonable. You can rent a new release for only $1 or $2 for a video game.
The rental price is a one day rental and you have to return it by 9 pm the following day. If you don’t return it, you will be charged another days rental price.

When you rent you will use your credit or debit card and you will enter your email address. Redbox will send you a receipt to that email address.

4. You can usually get either a DVD or a Blueray for the current new release titles.

5. You can even reserve a movie so you know it will be available when you go to pick it up.

6. You can even go to their website to see a list of latest releases so you know if there are currently any movies or games you want to see or play.

7. You just return them to the kiosk you rented them from and drop them in the return slot.

As you can see, renting your DVD’s in this way is easy and inexpensive. But there are some downsides too.

One of the biggest downsides, in my opinion, is that though you have 200 titles to choose from, you are still somewhat limited. Your average online or offline video stores offer thousands of titles to choose from.

If you are interested in a movie that is older or slightly more obscure, say a documentary for example, it is quite likely that you won’t be able to find it.

To me, it seems like it makes the most sense to use dvd rental machines only if you rent occasionally, you only want the newest releases and you don’t mind having to go out to return them.

Dvd Rental Rating

We all know that right now money is tight. That may not be the case for everyone, but for many people that is the way it is at this time. Even if money wasn’t tight, who wants to spend money on something they won’t be satisfied with? Not me, that’s for sure. That is why some people turn to dvd rental rating and reviews. They want to get an idea of what other people thought of a certain movie before they rent it.

On the surface dvd rental rating and reviews may seem like a good idea. After all, you can find out what others thought of it. And, in most cases, you can see at a glance since many times these ratings come in the form of stars. Usually it’s done with 1 to 5 stars with 1 being poor and 5 being excellent (sometimes they only use four stars for the top position, either way, you get the idea).

Dvd Rental Rating and Dont Risk Rental Disappointment

But, is this really the best way to pick your movies? I find that I very often disagree with ratings for a certain movie. For example, a few years ago there was a very popular movie out about the exploits of some guys on a bachelor party weekend in Las Vegas. Everywhere I turned people were saying how “hysterically funny” it was.

Maybe it was because of all the hype, but I have to say that when I did see it, I was terribly disappointed. I find that happens pretty often when I rely on someone else’s opinion of what is good and what isn’t.

In one way I do find the ratings to be helpful though, and that is in determining if the content of the movie is something I want to see. What I mean by that is that I hate a lot of gore in a movie. As odd as it may sound I don’t mind violence but I can do without all the detail, thank you very much.

So, I appreciate the reviews that give me an idea of how much gore I can expect. Obviously, with some types of movies you know it may have gore in it, such as a western, a war movie or even some sci-fi, but not all movies in that genre really focus on the gore. To me, to be able to find out in advance if a movie will focus on that aspect or kind or rush right by it, is important.

And that is what I like to read reviews for. Other than that I don’t really care a lot about a review unless they are from someone who I know has similar tastes in movies as I do.

So, when it comes to dvd rental rating and reviews, I think you should trust only one person… yourself. You don’t want to miss out on a great movie just because some snooty critic didn’t like it, do you? Just use the reviews as a barometer of what content is in the movie and from that point of view whether or not it is the type of movie you want to see.

Twilight Dvd Rental Is Everyone Addicted To Twilight

It seems like virtually everyone under the age of 20, and many over the age of 20, are interested in the Twilight saga. Since several of these movies are already out on dvd, you may be wondering where you can get your twilight dvd rental.

Today, you can not only get a twilight dvd rental, but pretty much any movie or game that you want and you will have several options from which to choose.

Here is a brief overview of the various places you can get rentals of dvds. Some of these sites (actually, most of them) will also offer games and Bluerays too.

Twilight Dvd Rental

Each of them will have their own policies about late charges so make sure you fully understand when you have to return the rental and what will happen if it is late.

In most cases you will pay a late fee for every day you have kept the dvd beyond the return date. Some places, will actually charge you the whole price of the dvd if you keep it too long.

Again, it’s important to know so you don’t end up paying a lot of extra fees.

So, here are your options, in no particular order:

1. Netflix. To my knowledge, Netflix is the first company that started sending movies through the mail. You may have seen those familiar red envelopes.

The exact pricing and options may vary, so check to see if this information is still accurate, but the concept is simple:

You sign up for a subscription plan. You have several monthly plans to choose from. One of the main differences between plans is the number of movies you get in a month and the number of movies you can have out at one time.

You will get your own account and you can login any time you want and add movies to your queue. Whenever you send a movie back, they will send out the next movie in your queue.

You don’t have to send all the movies back at the same time. If you have 3 movies out but only send one back, they will send out one more.

There are no due dates and no late fees. The envelope they send the movies in is the same one you send the movies back in so you don’t have to pay any postage.

They also offer some movies that can be streamed right on your computer.

Blockbuster has jumped on the bandwagon and has developed a similar program. One of the biggest differences is that since Blockbuster has stores you can return your movies directly at a store.

Though, according to their website, this can vary from one store to the next so you have to see if it is available in your area.

2. There are also large chains of video rental stores. You can always just go into your local video store and rent a movie or game.

3. Redbox. This is fairly new and it is just what it says it is; a red box. It is similar to a pop machine. You can choose which movies you want to watch, insert your credit or debit card and choose your movie.

It will be dispensed right on the spot, right from the machine. These machines can be found outside (or inside) all types of stores all around the country.

You return your movies right to the Redbox you rented it from.

So, as you can see, there is no shortage of places where you can find a twilight dvd rental, or any other kind of rental for that matter. You just have to choose the option that is right for you.
