Cherry Blossom Festival Washington DC
For 99 years, the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC have heralded the arrival of Spring. This year, the cherry blossoms take on special meaning in the wake of the overwhelming events in Japan. 3000 cherry trees were a gift of friendship to the United States from Japan in 1912. Today, the trees are a symbol of hope and renewal as the US responds to Japan’s time of need. Organizers of the festival held a vigil for victims of the earthquake and tsunami of March 11. DC Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton said the cherry blossoms will be a reminder of Japan’s resiliency. “This year, the cherry blossoms will remind the world to stand for Japan,” Norton said.
Trayvon Martin 911 Call – Did George Zimmerman Say ‘F*ng Coons’?
Did George Zimmerman, the infamous yet-to-be-arrested shooter of unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, say “fucking coons” in his 911 call? Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks share their take. Many already believe Zimmeran singled out Martin as ‘suspicious’ simply because he was black. ‘Catching Fire’ Movie Announcement
Facebook.com – Become a Fan! Twitter.com – Follow Us! Hey hey! How’s it going out there? You’re watching ClevverTV and I’m Dana Ward with awesome news for Hunger Games fans. Of course, up until now, we’ve only had the promise of the first book being made into a movie, but lucky for us, we just got word that the 2nd book in the series, Catching Fire, is set to hit the theatre circuit. That’s right, and Lionsgate has even given the movie an official release date. November 22, 2013. Keep in mind that the first book in the Suzanne Collins series — The Hunger Games — will be ready for its silver screen debut on March 23, 2012. So basically, it seems like the series releases will be quite spaced out. And if the third book Mockingjay gets turned into a movie and follows suit with the sequel’s theatre release, it would result in a possible theatrical release around July 25, 2014. So let us know how stoked you are to know that Catching Fire will be made into a movie. Or are you reserving your pure excitement until after you see the Hunger Games? Let us know right here and remember that ClevverTV is your hookup for all things Hunger Games. I’m Dana Ward and as always, thanks for tuning in.
