The price of going to the Pictures also goes up as Production companies try to recoup some of the money lost by DVD Piracy. So to REPORT or not to REPORT that is the Quandary….

Dear Witch (who’d EVER say such a thing), you are 100% correct on the issue of immorality of copying THE DVDs.
(For the benefit of mavsman from Korea and all like-minded):
THE TRUTH IS IT’S ILLEGAL TO COPY ANY PROPRIETARY WORK, EVEN FOR YOURSELF, AND CERTAINLY FOR FRIENDS (and who cares that you provide them free — they’re not yours to copy, let alone charge for.)
I’m not impressed that you are a movie critic and film buff — IF YOU WANT A FILM, DON’T STEAL IT, PAY FOR IT!!
NOR IS IT YOUR CONCERN WHETHER THEY MAKE TONS OF MONEY ON A SMALL INVESTMENT — IT’S THEIR PROPERTY, PERIOD,

may I answer your question, I live in Korea so the Pirates here are all over the place. What I do is copy the film and make it for my friends, as far as I know I have never damaged a Dvd.
I never charge for any copy that I make for my friends, because like you, that part I think is wrong.
My problem has always been what Hollywood’s actual numbers.
I go to the movies and I do download films, if the film is good, then I will see it when it comes to Korea, If not I pass on it. Hollywood clams that they are loosing billions.
Then Hollywood has claimed in lawsuits that they have lost money in movies…
for example Paramount. claimed in the 90’s when producers sued for extra money that Forrest Gump (Over 300M at box office) lost money and that Bevery Hills cop 2 (about 200 m) lost money and that a small indy film like my big fat greek wedding lost 50 million.
I can not help but laugh when Hollywood wants to have it both ways. Its sad and its pathetic. They claim that set artist will loose money but all I have seen is a huge double statndard.
I feel that when Hollywood actually tries to work with file sharring and dvd copying, we can all work together for a better solution. Until then, I think me and you will not agree.
