I’ve been told all tapes and DVD’s bought now or any time before the conversion won’t be playable. I have many DVD’s and some tapes as well but am leary of buying any more now if this rumor is true.

Remember the Y2K hype? The whole world as we knew it was going to end at midnight. It didn’t. All the hype about the Big Switch only applies to people with old TV’s using antennas, and even that’s not the end for them. For everyone else, you’ll never know the difference. Relax, all your tapes and DVDs are good for years to come.

Are you talking about when cable is being converted to digital? If so that has nothing to do with your DVD’s or tapes, as long as you have something to play them with they will still work.

Relax, your DVD’s and tapes are fine.
It’s just the analog tv broadcast that is affected.
