Hi, I’m trying to figure out the best way to connect an LG 5.1 home cinema system to my HDTV. The cinema system has a standard DVD player rather than blu-ray – should it be connected with an HD cable or will a scart lead do the same job? Also can the home cinema system be used in conjunction with a digital freeview box to watch movies on TV in surround sound?
As you can tell I’m a bit clueless!!!

Home theaters in a box can be a bit tricky, especially when they have their own sources, such as an inbuilt dvd player. A scart or hdmi connection will facilitate the dvd portion just fine. For audio coming back out of the TV you will need to connect the TV’s audio out to an Aux input on the back of you’re surround sound. For the latter, just use a cable that is common to both the tv output and surround sound aux input.

Connect HDMI cable from Cinema system to TV for video and optical cable or composite cables ( red & white ) from digital freeview box to Cinema system for audio.
