Do you know how many movie titles that are literally misleading to some people?
I’m talking about film titles that actually carry a different meaning that what audiences are expecting to see in the plot, although some might get confused during viewing or afterwards. The only one I can think of is "The Cake Eaters", where there are dysfunctional families working with emotional issues while no one actually ate cake in it.
Any more examples?

OMG I was just talking about the Cake Eaters and how it was completely misleading by the title. I still enjoyed the film but was expecting something totally different…and at least one reference to cake for heaven’s sake!
Another one is the Human Stain (still don’t get that one) The Constant Gardener…
What were people thinking giving these titles away?

Midnight Meat Train. not a porno, actually a horror film
The Hulk says
The Happening: It happened…then what the fuck!
The Ladykillers…why is a movie about a bunch of crooks trying to rob a bank through the house of somebodies Grandma, Called "The LadyKillers"
From Hell…I know it’s a metaphor for a deranged killer…but the movie was less about Jack the Ripper and More about A Secret Society and Inspector Frederick Abberline (Johnny Depp’s Character)

Magnolia…if anyone knows why it was called this, please let me know!

"Hard Candy" with Ellen Page was a good example. That was one crazy movie, nothing to do with candy.
"Running with Scissors" was another one. Had absolutely nothing to do with scissors, little bit to do with running.

Naked Lunch
A Clockwork Orange – I know why they choose the title but still
Butterfly on a Wheel (aka Shattered)
Funny Games – those were not games nor were they funny in the least, great film though (original)
The Host – It’s a drama comedy about a monster, I find the title a bit misleading.
Octane – it’s about vampires.
Reservoir Dogs
