What movie did you refuse to see but ended up loving when you did?

You know when it happens. You see a crap trailer and refuse to see a movie. Or you think the movie has too much hype, etc. But then for some reason or other you have to watch it and end up loving it.

You can list more than one movie if you like.

When I first say the Avatar trailers, I thought it was going to be all special effects and no substance. It ended up being the case, but I still had a really good time watching it.

By the way, your name is super pretty ;)

Face off – I used to have this thing about nicholas cage (bloody hated him lol), then I watched the movie and realised it was awesome

Star trek – refused to watched it in the cinema and now I own it on dvd because it’s just that good

Transformers – when I saw the trailers, I thought it looked stupid, how very wrong I was lol

There’s probably more but those are the only ones I can think of right now

These will seem strange to list, but we didn’t have a lot of advance information about movies and rarely had access to reviews unless you had a subscription to a major newspaper. I don’t even recall seeing the trailers for these:
    Paper Moon ~ b&w and low-budget~not promising~but WOW!
All the President’s Men ~ I was so sick of all the Watergate coverage! But, my sister, who found it interesting, insisted I go see it with her.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest ~ I hadn’t gotten to read the novel and knew only that it was set in a mental institution, so I wasn’t looking forward to it. Score another for my younger sister!
Lifeguard ~ Back then, I had grave doubts about it, fearing it would be sleazy but wanting to see it because I’d become a Sam Elliott fan after seeing "Frogs". I watched it again recently, and it definitely holds up as sweet, funny and a little sad. It’s remained an obscure movie, and I wonder if it has cult status.
Artificial Intelligence: A.I. ~ I thought the trailer was awful and did not want to see it in the theater though I now wish that I had. When I saw it on a cable movie channel, I was completely enchanted by it! No one seemed to get that it was more of a sci fi fairytale and treated it cruelly.

ALL of these are amazing films I’ve watched no less than 50 times, possibly more, since seeing them in the theater. I’ll have to search my memory for others.

I don’t know her name but I like to call her too old to play a high school junior.or is that the name I use for the guy in the movie. I get them confused.
