I want to get an external dvd burner for my mac (operating system 10.4) but I can’t find any for a good price that will work for a mac. Any help on finding an external dvd burner for my mac. Thanks!

There are some burners out there. You should get one that matches the format of your native burner. This is found in the ‘About this Mac – More info’ The burners are called +R or -R.
You might as well buy one that will burn the same kind as your Mac so that you don’t have to figure out which disks go in which burner. If you get the wrong format, they will not work.
Some burners will burn both -R and +R disks. The new Mac burners are very advanced, burning double layer disks. A matching burner will be more expensive.
I am happy with my burner. It is called ‘Impress’ but the guts are by one of the major manufacturers, so there ya go.
I found a driver for the burner online. If you do get a burner and it doesn’t work or not well, you might search for dvd driver osx. I am not at home or I would tell you the place I got it. :-)
Be sure you get a firewire burner and not a USB burner. The USB burner won’t be suitable to boot from if you need to start up from the disk.
