I need a new digital camera with video capability. I really wanted to get a nikon dSLR but I also need a video cam and I can’t afford both! So I am looking for something that takes good photos and good video for 0 or under. I know I could google it, but I would like suggestions based on your experience with the camera. Thanks!

I just bought a Panasonic DMC-ZS3 for $229 and the HD video is fantastic. Few point & shoot cameras let you use the zoom for video, but this one does.

Im not going to make a camera recommendation because I dont get into still camera video too much. I will offer one piece of advice though.
Before you buy your camera with video check the video format the camera saves video files with. The .mov file format is troublesome to work with. Not all viewing and editing software will work with all video formats. Make sure your computer software is compatible with the cameras video format or be prepared to have to lay out the extra cash for compatible software. Also be prepared for the extra work of file conversion needed with some software. These are not universal formats.

The Nikon D5000 has video. The only problem is that it wont change auto-focus while the video is recording, but other than that it is pretty good with video.
