My boyfriend plays in a local band and I am getting their youtube page up and going but only have crappy video/sound for the videos I have taken. I know that I can’t find anything spectacular outside of an expensive pro camera for like thousands but I am on a budget. I am not asking for perfect quality video/sound, but decent video and a good enough sound so that the camera mic isn’t overloaded and imossible to hear. Let me know please! Thank you.

There are several problems when doing music videos.
First- sound. Most of the time any video camera will have problems with good sound even very expensive cameras. This is because the sound is always way to loud for the camera. There are several way to solve this problem. One is to turn down the mic input on your camera. Go into your menu settings under audio and adjust it to the most negative it can go. sometimes -20 or -30 db. This will help some. A second alternative if you are editing several cameras together is to put a camera in another room that is not as loud. That camera will get sound only and be used to edit all the video with. If you are not editing with multiple cameras see if your camera can take an audio input such as a microphone. By adding a small audio board or mic that can adjust to the camera you can manipulate the sound coming into the camera so that it wont totally sound like crap.
Second- Video. It sounds like your band is playing in low light situations if they are you will want a camera with the largest video sensor you can find. 1/4" to 1/2′ if possible.
I can tell your budget is small so I am giving you the most cost effective answers I can.
