Zinni has three suggestions for America’s next president: Get to know and truly understand the world as it is; devise a strategic design for engaging in that world; and rebuild diplomatic relationships with the world’s nations while restructuring government at home. Zinni, a former commander in chief of US Central Command, gave his first public talk, billed as “The New World Order,” as a Frank HT Rhodes Class of 1956 Professor in Kennedy Hall’s Call Auditorium April 15. In a swift and personalized summation of recent history, from the collapse of the Soviet Union to the final year of the Bush administration, Zinni discussed globalization, the emergence of non-state entities and movements — both good and bad — the rise of the information age, climate change, global diasporas and the advent of failed states in a hostile environment. This 12-minute tour de force brought him to the meat of his presentation — making sense of the comprehensive change the world has undergone since 1989. The post-Cold War “peace dividend” never panned out, said Zinni, and “the new world order” is emerging as complex and volatile, requiring a nuanced understanding.

    1. This guy, it seems to me raises some important points. His summary of the past 50 years or so of world change seemed to encapsulate the important trends of this period in an accessible way. Unfortunately, I think his thinking after this part of his speech didn’t really provide any constructive information or anything new. I do agree that the new world order is not fully comprehended by our leaders and I do agree that problems we face are global problems.

    2. Not only do we throw the U.S. military at global problems, but we slaughter tens of thousands of people! This is undeniably immoral.

The Vatican-Pope-Jesuits-illuminati run the world. they have all the judges, attorneys, doctors, major corporations, etc. all in their back pocket. bought & paid for, etc. our country is no longer free -we live in tyranny! truth an obscure thing, Oppression & lie is the norm. Were all slaves- our masters, the elite, r at least 50 years ahead of us in knowledge, technology, info., secrets & r using all of it against us!

Last one,I hear that Americans aren’t paying their mortgages,and I watch thousands and thousands of homes get blown to bits,by tornadoes,floods,forest fires,cyclones, hurricanes and the insurance companies call them Acts of God,in short,they don’t pay leaving the government to pay for the relief, then pay the banks for the mortgage leaving the sinistered to join the 10 millions out there all ready. Would this be one of the cracks that is mentioned in the fabric of today’s climate changed world.

      three letters, N W and O, brings out the crazies at night, lol

      and they’re pissed because his first comments are, “we had a conspiracy theory about the soviet union being so scary, and it wasn’t”
      and this relates so well with the crazies’ notions, that they feel threatened because if his story is true, then they’re ridiculously like him at that time, naive :P

    17. @JimProfitCat you don’t know what you are talking about…i lived in germany for 5 years and the biggest mistake i have ever made in my life was coming back to the police state of america…in europe if you have a back pack they befriend you and ask where you are from and where are you traveling to….in america (where the only concern is self and money) they call you a bum…you are not free in america…try traveling and see how often you get harassed by the police..
