I am in 8th grade and we are doing a short essay on a technology product. I choose Blu-ray, and was wondering if this sounded ok, and what things should I take, change or add in.
Thanx
Blu-ray
– The dvd of the future –
Did you know that Blu-ray has five times the storage space as regular dvd’s? With its new laser technology, Blu-ray is the lead in high definition dvd’s. Michael Bay, a hollywood director, says "This is the complete high definition package for fans of the film”. Many people
wonder if they should upgrade to a better and newer system. With
Blu-rays many special features, it is intriguing. So what is it that appeals to people about Blu-ray?
One reason Blu-ray appeals to people is its sharper picture and sound, “It looks stunning and really allows you to engage with the movie in new ways”, Bay also adds. The company uses blue lasers to read and write the data, which makes the name connect, Blu for the Blue laser and Ray for the optical ray. The company of Blu-ray has many board of directors including Apple, Dell, Twentieth Century Fox, Walt Disney Pictures and Warner Brothers Entertainment.
Blu-ray has many special features including accessing the internet to watch movie trailers, bringing up the menu while the movie is playing, and have the director on screen explaining how the scene was shot (while the scene is still playing in the backround). The company is also working on new things for Blu-ray. In early 2009, Blu-ray annouced that they would work with Netflix for Blu-ray rentals, and accessing youtube videos on Blu-ray. They will obtain a lot more business this way.
Business was not always easy though, like with the “ war ” between HD and Blu-ray. The two companies struggled with each other to win consumers, but in the end, Blu-ray was the most popular for high definition dvd’s. Although Blu-ray is great and it is interesting, will it keep Blu-ray alive. Given the state of the economy, is it realistic to expect people to still spend a lot of money on this form of entertainment, will Blu-ray’s products be here in one, five or ten years still?
Many products seem very good, but most fail and we never hear about them again. Like the Stanley Steamer, a steam run vehicle created in the early 1900’s. Seems like a good idea, but failed, and all our cars today are basically all run on gasoline. Some products are still here today and 99% of people have them. Like the DVD created in 1997. Blu-ray is hoping to replace dvd’s. Many major studios are releasing there dvd’s in regular format and Blu-ray.
Hopefully all dvd’s in the future will be in high definition. But
Blu-ray and DVD will most likely be around together for some time until
Blu-ray is more universal.
