Handling the practical tasks associated with a loved one’s death is a painful job for the bereaved family. This, however, is not the case for Christoffer, who feels no grief when learning of his father’s death. Christoffer has not seen his father since he left for Prague 25 years ago, abandoning Christoffer and his mother. For Christoffer, it’s a question of getting his father packed into a coffin, flown to Denmark and buried at the family grave as fast as possible, so he can return to everyday life with his wife, Maja, and their 12-year-old son, Thomas. Maja travels with Christoffer on what becomes a trip of a revelation and confrontation. Behind the convincing facade, Christoffer and Maja’s relationship is crumbling. Christoffer’s encounter with the life his father led in this foreign country unleashes a forgotten longing and Christoffer realizes that he has paid a higher price for his father’s desertion than he thought. In Prague, Christoffer has to fight for his marriage, come to terms with his past, and struggle to avoid being destroyed in the city to which he came on a purely practical errand.
