I saw this quote on EW from The Simpsons that has Moe saying he reports Netflix never received his movie return, letting him keep all of the movies he rented. Not that i want to try it, but I can definitely see someone taking advantage of this on other rental websites like Blockbuster or Gamefly.
Is this illegal, and what is the probability of someone catching you?
Melisa says
Yes, it’s very much illegal, and it’s immoral. You’re lying to a company about the status of your rental, which counts as fraud.
And the reason why companies like Netflix have to charge such high fees to everybody is to cover the costs of people doing this exact thing.
Sakura says
no, it’s not illegal! you will have to pay for the late fees and for the movie though.
toogerq says
Yes, that’s theft…which is obviously illegal.

It doesn’t matter if it’s illegal or not. It’s immoral and unethical to take advantage of a company’s (or anybody’s) kindness.
