How do you save a dvd movie to your computer? I have VLC media player and have gotten a DVD movie that will NOT play on my TV VCR (which i wanted it for) but WILL play on my laptop. The DVD shows a blank screen on VCR but plays the whole movie no problem on computer.I have never saved a movie to a computer before and would like to burn a better quality copy. How do i do it with VLC media player?

You can make back up of your dvd with DVD Shrink.. because almost every movie is bigger than 4,7 Gb, you can shrink them, save them and after that burn into 4,7 Gb everyday blank dvd.. it’s few years I worked with DVD shrink, but it’s easy
Here is a download page (its small software and its free)
And I found this tutorial how to use it, its step by step, very usefull
good luck, hope I helped

You can use aimersoft dvd ripper, it is able to rip dvds to computer in 1:1. it is also capable to save dvd to computer in regular video format. it can bypass all kind of dvd copyright protection schemes, so it is able to rip copyright protected dvd movies.
Not like some ordinary DVD rippers, it will not break the video into pieces, it will join all DVD titles and chapters and make them as one standalone video file, thus you can play it in windows media player.
You can download it here
Here is a guide about how to use it.
