I have a computer with a fried dvd+rw drive and there are no system backup files. my question is if I try to install a new dvd+rw drive will the computer even recognize it? With no drive to input installation software, and no backup files for the drive. how or can I install a new one? If it makes it any easier to answer the question, the computer is an Acer Aspire desktop with one fried useless drive.

What do system files and back-ups have to do with the optical drive? Just take it out and pop a new one in. All optical drives use the same generic driver so Windows will recognize it without a hassle. If you’re buying it, make sure what connection your computer has, either IDE or SATA.
