More proof of the pain DVD’s can be…I would take back the video, explain your story, and they should be reasonable. If not, take your business elsewhere. Was this a Sony disc or a Disney movie? I know they have some of the strictest anti-burning formats and if you have an older player, they may have trouble playing. See if they work in the store. If not, you can just replace them. If they do play in the store, then you will have problems with that kind of disc and it may be time to upgrade your player. If you do, bring along a disc you want to play and that way make sure it will at least play those…Hope this helps…Also, try just cleaning the lens on your player. Sometimes that works…

Talk to the manger of the place you rented the movie from.

I used to get movies there all the time, and that always happened to me. Tell someone, like the manager about it and make sure they do something. When my mom had this problem she told an employee and they let her rent a movie for free. But really tell someone.

First do, is to take the dvd back to the video store, and pay your late fee. And while you are there, I suggest that you notify Family Video, and see how they can help you resolve the problem. One I bet, that you will have a late fee, since Video Stores have a due date on video rentals, while on-lie sites like Netflix, and Blockbuster.com don’t. And I bet, if you don’t notify them off the problem, they won’t know, and return it to their shelves, and somebody else, could rent that same movie, and have the same problems as you are having. They could offer you a replacement dvd, of the same movie, or a refund, or credit for another rental, in less you badly need to see that movie. But they won’t know of the problem, in less you take it to the desk, and tell them.
