Are the discs usually messed up or have great potential to damage some very nice personal equipment? And which rental service by mail is the best? I would want the widest selection of the oldest movies (like ’30s to ’80s).

Neither service uses stickers on their dvds so don’t even worry about that. Netflix is best for price and for your older movies. My mom loved to rent the old 40s and 50s westerns and while there was a wait it wasn’t long. If you live close to a large city then either service will work great for you and you’ll be getting movies maybe 2 times a week. If you live maybe 30 min away from a city then service will be slow and you’ll get your movies just once a week. If want to get movies even faster then Blockbuster is better but just a few $ more. You can swap your mailed movie in the store for new ones right away or just drop them in the return drop box to get your mailers faster. My mom stopped w/ Netflix just cuz the service was too slow but she lived way out of town. I liked netflix but stopped using it just cuz they kept sending me way wrong movies that weren’t even in my queue. I’d only have the Dexter series or only action movies in my list and out of no where I’d get the Desperate Housewives season 1 in my mailbox. So I’d send them back and wait a week later only to get something called One Tree Hill season 2. A few other ppl have had this problem but not everyone so I suggest taking advantage of the 2 week free trials that both services offer and see what works best for you.
