If the mainstream media would not have made such a big thing about a small church planning to burn Qurans on 9/11, would anyone know about this event?
Can we blame the mainstream media if American soldiers are endangered because of outraged radicals and terrorists? How much damage does the American media cause anyways?

The media’s job is to bring news to the masses and the proposed burning of the Quran is NEWS.
Instead of blaming the media, one should make efforts to thwart the intentions of this stupid group which is hell-bent on burning the Quran.
No doubt America has freedom of speech and action, but doing this is really going too far.

No, we can blame the hate-filled backwoods "Christian" crackers (Gainseville, actually, a college town) who think that Nazis are misunderstood, and so plan to join those unholy ranks by burning holy texts.

Interesting question! If the media were a simple messenger that would be one thing, but they pick and choose their stories then sensationalize them to stir up people’s emotions. Think about it-people are easier to control when they are divided and the media is surely helping to make sure that we are being given hateful reminders of our differences. Think about it: if these people burnt the Quran in their little church, who would know about it? Who would care? It’s like if a tree falls in the forest but no one is around to hear, does it make a sound? The media is making sure we are ALL aware of it, and are acting like that friend that we’ve all had that was "simply the messenger" that would spread information that they sensationalized to start drama between you and your other friends. I’m sure you remember a friend like that you’ve had or maybe still tolerate and have-this is what the media is doing in this instance. I used to fall for the media’s stories, I used to hate Muslims bc the news sensationalizes everything the extremists do-pitting us against each other. Then I met REAL Muslims, went back to school, and my world has changed. Every religion has extremists. Those are awful people that could be in any religion, and would use any reason to hurt others. I just wish the news, instead of describing people mostly by their religion would just use labels as "good" and "bad" people and keep it simple. I could point out AWFUL people, and then label them by religion, but that’s not fair to the people who follow that religion, nor those who’ve dedicated their lives to teaching others to love unconditionally. In the end, it would be awesome to see the good people of the world come together, and battle it out with the bad people who cause misery, death, and fear in others. We may find that the good people really do outnumber the bad….and if we could keep them from reproducing and passing down their abuse and hate, then the good people can win after all and maybe our world could have an amazing future :)

Blame is just like putting peanut butter on bread. It is not any good unless it is spread around. – – – Besides , your question is in error. It is not outraged radicals and terrorists. It is just mainstream Muslims you are referring to. Only the Muslim religion has radical elements. The Muslims claim they cannot control these radical elements. So they give lip service to denouncing the the radicals actions. But do nothing to stop the radicals. Kind of makes you wonder ?

Yep.
ANYTHING goes, for ratings.
Otherwise it would, at most, have been a minor local story.
Being neither christian nor muslim, I think it is legal to do it IF he bought the books and they are his property; BUT, I think he is an idiot.
I would have better things to do with my money.
On a side note, I have seen people mad about US flag burnings also; and I note that the only PROPER way to dispose of a damaged US flag IS BY BURNING.

It’s international news. It was on all of the European TV news stations, Japanese news station, and the South American news stations.
