My dvd player is broken and I would like to replace it. The current dvd player is a Panasonic Home Theater in a Box type thing with 5 speakers. Can I just buy a new dvd player and hook it up to the existing speakers? Thanks!

YES, if you have audio inputs on the back of your "theater in a box". Use the digital audio input if you have it.

No, the this about "theaters in a box" setups is that they include audio processors for the surround, and amplification all built into a DVD player, if you you replace it, you will need an amp, that’s capable of decoding dolby digital or some higher end dvd players will have 5/7 separate audio outs that need amplification.
To "Stop Ranting": I think he means his Home Theater in a box setup is toast, and he wants to buy just a DVD player, and hook speakers directly up to it. If the DVD portion of the All in one unit is just broken, but everything else works, then you CAN purchase a seperate DVD player and hook it up to an AUX input on the theater in a box setup. If the whole thing is shot, then no, you can’t hook the speakers up to a new dvd player.
