Man, so much hate on Blockbuster…
Mine’s still here and I’m still a damn proud member. Been renting games since ’95 once to three times, beating them, and saving money all the way.
It’ll probably be gone soon, though…

i had to walk to and from our BB up hill both ways in the snow and heat. .. I remember calling ahead to have them hold copies for me, if you got there at 10am on Thursday you could usually get new releases for sure, but 10:20 they were gone…. you could also get candy there! Let’s see you do that netfix!! I have heard that BB has a transitional job placement program that now employs hundreds of sign flippers… advertising, oddly enough Red Box locations. the irony.

My first job was in a video store. The biggest problem was movies that were returned but didn’t get checked back in. So a customer would come back 2 weeks after returning a movie to be told they had a $56 late fee for a
new release not returned on time, but it was sitting on the shelf. $56 late fee for a VHS tape selling for $14.
