Twitter.com – Follow Us! Barney’s Version hits theaters on December 31st, 2010. Cast: Paul Giamatti, Dustin Hoffman, Rosamund Pike, Minnie Driver, Rachelle Lefevre, Scott Speedman, Bruce Greenwood, Saul Rubinek, Jake Hoffman, Anna Hopkins, Cle Bennett, Harvey Atkin, Mark Addy, Maury Chaykin, Macha Grenon “Barney’s Version” is the warm, wise, and witty story of Barney Panofsky, (Paul Giamatti), a seemingly ordinary man who lives an extraordinary life. A candid confessional, told from Barney’s point of view, the film spans four decades and two continents, taking us through the different “acts” of his unusual history. There is his first wife, Clara, (Rachelle Lefevre), a flame-haired, flagrantly unfaithful free sprit with whom Barney briefly lives la vie de Boheme in Rome. The “Second Mrs. P.,” (Minnie Driver), is a wealthy Jewish Princess who shops and talks incessantly, barely noticing that Barney is not listening. And it is at their lavish wedding that Barney meets, and starts pursuing, Miriam (Rosamund Pike), his third wife, the mother of his two children, and his true love. With his father, Izzy (Dustin Hoffman) as his sidekick, Barney takes us through the many highs, and a few too many lows, of his long and colorful life. Not only does Barney turn out to be a true romantic, he is also capable of all kinds of sneaky acts of gallantry, generosity, and goodness when we – and he – least expect it. His is a gloriously full life, played out on a grand scale. And, at its …

Saw this magnificent film last night. The warmth, the humor, the pitch perfect script, the acting, jesus…Paul Giamatti really brings it for this one. It goes really deep. One of the most memorable film experiences I have ever had. It has it all.

why does hollywood think people need to see the end of a film in the trailer? i for one don’t appreciate it!

A stark lesson to those with the financial clout to create movies on this scale, divert your millions to helping needy people and help alleviate the burden of human suffering wherever it manifests. To the dozens and dozens of people who will see this movie, worldwide, you are sufferers of a different sort. After wasting both time and money on this spoiled brat of a movie, go back to your neighborhoods and do something nice for someone less fortunate.

@hugosalarm did you even see this movie? Mordecai Richler was and still is a hugely influential author in Canada. For many people internationally he put canadian literature on the map. If you are so superior to films, why are you watching youtube trailers? Please, instead of sitting behind your computer criticizing and tearing everyone else down, why not contribute to society? or at least read a Mordecai Richler novel.

@kylaeve You are breaking new ground in rational (or irrational) thought by accusing me of being “superior to films.” Yes I saw the movie and I am entitled to an opinion, the same as you are. I’d speculate, (generously here) that over a third of Canadians have never heard of Mr. Richler, 50% couldn’t name one of his novels and 100% of them should have given the finger to this deplorable movie. At least those international folks with the literature map are happier over this than you and I, EH?

See the movie & DON’T watch this trailer! I’ve just seen it – brilliant – and I’m so glad I didn’t see the trailer first, as it gives too much away. I went in completely unaware of what was going to happen in Barney’s life, and am so pleased I just let it wash over me.
