Look at Tower Records – they totally went out of business because CD’s are ALMOST completely obsolete – if not obsolete, then enough to warrant a business shutting down because of MP3 availability and technology in its prime, whereby hardly anyone buys CD’s anymore. I’m wondering if within the next few years, DVD’s of any kind – HD or BluRay, whatever, will slip as well due to everyone wanting to download instead of buying the tangible product.

The online technology existed before DVDs were in homes or marketed as a popular format for home systems. People were downloading movies when VHS was still the format at the local Blockbuster.
The same people that purchased a tangible product will continue to do so no matter what the technology offers at any given time.
Peaches and Turtles went out of business before CDs and DVDs existed. Businesses come and go. NetFlix is doing well, however.
