My lactation consultant said to finish each feeding (every 2-3 hours) by pumping any extra out, in order to increase my milk supply and start to build a frozen surplus. How long does it take for my production to increase? Two days, a week, what’s your experience?

It took me 2-3 days of doing this consistently. If I miss pumping once though I notice that my supply goes down a bit again so just beware of this.

it depends on your body. to increase your supply pumping after each feed is great. you can also practise switch feeding. i.e. 10 mins each side, breast A,B,A,B. drink plenty of water, get rest when you can. also feeding at regular times helps supply too. if you’re concerned your dr can prescribe a drug to help increase your supply. there’s lots of great websites too. kellymom and lowmilksupply
good luck!
